caffeine products there are also stimulants, but this will only keep them calm for a short amount of time...
There are diets and herbal remedies for this too, try them out along with a good structured environment (a schedule) and a good behavioral modification plan. If it doesn't work in like 3 months, then go ahead and put her on the meds.Im a little concerened about my daughter and being on aderoll, anyone have any advice about how to keep calm?
That all depends on her age and her general temperament . My 8 year old daughter has ADHD and has been on medication since kindergarten. It has done WONDERS for her in every aspect of her life. I heavily weighed the Pro's and Con's and decided to try the medication. But I also understand the importance of non-medicinal approaches. Positive reinforcement works extremely well for my daughter. It is time consuming and difficult but effective. You simply must ignore her annoying non-dangerous behaviors and reward ANY good ones. Even if she sits quietly for a few minutes, give her praise. Eventually, she will learn that good behavior gets her positive attention. Also, try to find her a creative outlet such as art, music, reading, etc. I have heard that giving hyperactive children small doses of caffeine helps calm them. Sounds crazy, but I've heard it works. I totally understand how frustrating having a hyperactive child can be! Hang in there! I hope this helps! :)
