I cant find how to draw manga bodies no matter how hard i try mostly the men and hands.got any tips or advice?

please be very specific i can't draw any thing but eyes and hair it would be great if you could tell me anything you know.

I used to be like u. Concentrating on drawing facial (eyes, hair, heads, etc) but then when I want to draw fullbody, I usually use reference from comic books (starting off) and later on from photographs (for natural poses). Reference is important, AND your ';guideline'; in drawing. Before u started drawing the details, try to draw a stick figure first. Well, stick figure with poses are good, but for starters just a simple stick figure will do. Then develop the ';muscle'; and then put in clothes.

Oh and there's various types of body proportion. And it is usually determined by the size of your character's head.





SUPER DEFORMED (SD) - full height = 2 head height


Chibi - full height = 3-4 head height


kiddy chibi - 5 head height


normal proportion - 6-7 head height





u can try joining the community and try to be more active and I'm sure you'll bump into various styles which is inspirational enough to be used as reference. Practice with reference is better than just drawing without it.

Heh, lol. Eyes is what I CAN'T draw. The only way you can draw hands is just to keep drawing the same basic hands over and over...you'll get the hang of it.

You might do better to study how to draw a person realistically first. Some of the best cartoon artists are so good because they know how to draw realistic anatomy and they base their cartoon drawings on that knowledge. Look at the book Bridgeman's Complete Guide to Drawing from Life or something similar. Otherwise there are an awful lot of ';how to draw manga'; books out there, just go to the art section of a book store and you'll find like fifty different ones. Look at all of them, pick one that makes sense to you, and practice, practice, practice!

When you draw any objects, do not concentrate on the details to begin with.


Observe in terms of *shapes* and *sizes*.





Shapes like: round, oval,


Sizes like: bigger, smaller, compare to the other shapes.





After you finish the whole shape and outline of the object, erase with a rubber what's not so accurate. Just experiment, re-doing, and enjoying.





When you finish with the outer shape, focus on the details.
the 'how to draw manga' books are pretty decent, plus theres different volumes for whatever you're needing to draw :)
