I bought a fax machine, and I can eaisly send faxes, but I don't know how to receive them, any advice?

I don't want to have to get an extra phone line, I want to somehow just use my existing phone line and arrange to receive faxes now and then, but not on a permanent basis. When I have the fax plugged in and I call my home phone I can hear the machine, but I don't know how to arrange to receive a fax.I bought a fax machine, and I can eaisly send faxes, but I don't know how to receive them, any advice?
Well, you have two options. First turn off the auto answer on your fax machine. But then you have to know when someone is trying to send you a fax, and you have to stand there and push the button on the fax machine for it to start receiving. The second option (which is the one I use) is to only plug in the machine when you know someone is going to send you a fax, and then unplug it again after the fax has come in. Thats about all you can do outside of getting a dedicated fax phone number (or you could always consider signing up for the Efax service).I bought a fax machine, and I can eaisly send faxes, but I don't know how to receive them, any advice?
Why is this in the Home %26gt; Travel %26gt; United States %26gt; Houston section?

Turn off auto answer on your machine.

Better yet, just use e-mail. Fax machines are so... 1987.
make sure that it has paper and ink and you should be all set
When someone sends you a fax it will just automatically print as long as you have paper loaded. You don't have to do anything
